Burgers (Beef or Sweet Potato) with Thick Cut Chips!

Fancy a BURGER AND CHIPS?!
Here is a super easy and fast way to make your own McDee's or BKing's AT HOME!

And you control which ingredients and which meat...or maybe NOT meat... it's supposed to be. (Vegetarian burger patty recipe below).

Ingredients (serves 2 - 4):
  • small handful of Bread crumbs
  • Bread Buns / Burger Buns
Wholemeal or White crunchy buns are a great (healthier) alternative
  • 250g Mince Meat
    (Or 1 large Sweet Potato)
  • 1 Egg
  • 1 Onion
  • Handful of grated Red Leicester
  • Sliced Cheese
  • 2 Tomatoes
  • Ketchup, Chutney, ...(other Sauces)
  • Lettuce
  • 3/4 Large Potatoes
  • Salt, Pepper

Preparation:

First you cut up the potatoes into Chips; to make them healthier leave the skin on, it contains minerals like potassium and calcium at higher levels than the flesh! You should however refrain from eating any parts of the potato that is still green.
Pre-heat your oven to 220°C and dice the onion.

If you are vegetarian, you peel the sweet potato and grate it. This is tiring and takes a while, but the taste is delicious!!! The grated potato will give off juice, so just drain some liquid by squeezing it in a sieve.

Whether meat or grated potato, put it in a mixing bowl and add the egg, bread crumbs, grated Red Leicester, Salt, Pepper and onion. Add Garlic if you like. Then mix it all up with your (obviously clean) hands and form burger patties.

Put the Chips on a baking tray with some oil and salt ( and maybe some rosemary, who knows?!) and put in the pre-heated oven.

Meanwhile, the meaty Burger patties are best fried with vegetable oil in a large frying pan.
The vegetarian Burger patties are best cooked in the oven, to let more of the juice evaporate. So just place them on a non-stick baking tray or on some baking paper and put in the oven until they're golden brown.

While the veggie (left) or the meaty (right) Burger Patties are frying, turn the chips to get them evenly cooked and/or maybe start giving them a last touch with the grill.

Once everything is cooked, take your Bread Buns and create your own home-made burger by adding some sliced cheese, lettuce, tomato and all the sauces you love!

Enjoy it all with some nice thick cut crispy chips!

TUCK IN!
